How many times in our lives do we fall short of what God expects of us? Allow me to speak for myself in saying: A LOT! How often are we given a second chance? A LOT! God has given us so many chances to come unto him and be forgiven of all of our misdeeds. This experience and "chance" for Repentance is mentioned in the scriptures many, many times.
One of my personal favorite of these stories is given to us through the Prophet Mormon. In Mormon 2:26 it talks about the Nephites and how they have become wicked. "and did meet them again, and did beat them; nevertheless the stregnth of the Lord was not with us; yea, we were left to ourselves, that the Spirit of the Lord did not abide in us; therefore we had become weak like unto our brotheren." From this we learn how important it is to have the Holy Ghost with us, becuse of the lack of the Spirit being with them they had become weak. They came to war with there brothern the Lamanites, and had been spared as we learn in Mormon 3:3 "and they did not realize that it was the Lord that had spared them, and granted unto them a chance for repentance."
The Lord came to Mormon and told him to Preach repentance to the pepole and told them if they repented they would be spared. "Behold they did hearden there hearts against the Lorg their God" Mormon 3:3.Did they take there chance? No. Later in the Book of Mormon we learn they were destroyed.
Do you want to be daestoyed? No? Then take heed from the example of the Nephites Repent, come unto Christ and let the Lord through his Infinite Atonement take that burden of sin from you. I know that he loves you and all of us, he loves youand wants you to be counted among his flock. The Lord is My Light, he has done so much for me and if you take that chance and cone unto him he will be you Light too.
Please read Mormon 2:26 and 3:2-3
